Is it just me, or are come-backs coming back?
Was that question confusing? I’m sorry. I’ll give it another go, which is exactly what I’m talking about.
I see lots of things from my past coming back, but appearing as if these things are somehow brand spanking new and better than the original version.

Back in the day, I called them “lp’s” and they skipped and scratched. Today, they’re called “vinyl” and have “superior sound quality.” Huh?
Do marketing people think we Baby Boomers ALL have memory problems?

So. Yeah. Right. The 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and whatever you call the time we’re in now are a little lot fuzzy. But the shizzle I remember is freaking fine, Man. Real freaking fine.
Take the Star Wars movie that’s coming out. That movie is (in human years) retirement age, right? But it’s bigger and better than any Marvel comics superhero–also among the geriatric set if we’re honest (and honesty is the policy here at Lorna’s Voice, even if it’s true).
Take Retro design. You walk into some people’s homes and you think you’ve been transported backward to times you would much rather forget. Or maybe you already forgot. Either way, the mirror ball in the living room creates the kind of flashbacks you won’t soon get over without a little help from your stress reliever of choice.

I’m not able to get the prescription stuff, so I’m trying this holistic approach to managing my stress. Leave me alone. It’s not working yet.
And fashions. With the obesity problem in America, who’s bright idea was it to bring back the mini-skirt? When we Baby Boomers were all nubile, leggy lovelies, well, okay. But, please understand, fashion designer people, that we Baby Boomers still think of ourselves as nubile lovelies (even some women). We tend not to put mirrors in our homes because they don’t reflect an accurate portrayal of our imaginary hottie selves. So we will force ourselves into the mini-skirts, People. Watch out for exploding zippers.

If you wear that new mini-skirt to the ceremony, Honey, I’m going to have to wear this mask you hate so much. Sorry, but that last zipper blow-out cost me an earlobe.
There’s a favorite book of mine that’s making a bit of a come-back lately, too.
Recently, a brilliant author/illustrator, Susan Clancy, did an interview with me. Along with the interview, she drew some wonderful sketches of me and my furry (and feathery) friends mentioned in the memoir. Hop over to her blog and take a look!
Sue’s review on Goodreads is: “The book is funny, savvy and smart! Glad I read it. I’m honored to have gotten to meet the author too! I recommend this book as a rainy Saturday read.” Thanks, Sue!
Also, the Women’s Story Circle Network, an organization that supports women writers, just reviewed my memoir. Here is the full review if you’re interested. This excerpt gives you an idea of what the reviewer, Diane Stanton, thought:
“Throughout this book, Lee successfully entertains her reader with a series of anecdotes of one tough life. Her tales are incredibly upbeat and many times just plain funny. This reader never felt sorry for her. Indeed, Lee’s energy and drive and overwhelming desire to get things right are motivational. Her culminating reflections on her contentment with “being me” are inspirational.”
If you haven’t read my memoir yet, what’s stopping you? The e-book is only $1.99. And please review it on Amazon or Goodreads. The 1st edition has 20+ reviews, but they aren’t linked with the new, improved, and award-winning 2nd edition!
Some things really are worth revisiting, wouldn’t you say?

It does feel good. I hope you enjoy it. It was my first book and I’m proud of it!
Nov 15, 2015 @ 12:52:57
That’s the spirit! 🙂
Nov 15, 2015 @ 12:39:55
Thanks, Izzy! I had white pleather go-go boots, too! And, no, I’m not nearly as much in person. I wish I was, but I’m not! 😦
Nov 15, 2015 @ 12:32:36
Glad you like it, Sue!
Nov 13, 2015 @ 10:11:11
Yipppeee!! Way to go Lorna! The come-back-kid does it again and…! Keep it up. 😉
Nov 12, 2015 @ 21:21:35
I wore mini skirts and knee high tacky pleather boots and thought I was a cool chick. Hell … I’d wear them now but to where? I don’t want to shcok a senior into a cardiac arrest. LOLOL
Always the funny gal with quick snippets of snarky that bring a smile to my face. Are you just as much fun in person? You know with the internet it’s hard to know. But, I think you’re too funny to be just and internet sensation.
You go-go girl !!!!
Izzy 😎

About five years ago my skin decided that it no longer wanted to stick to my body leaving me with those dreaded knee wrinkles. If it doesn’t cover my knees, I don’t wear it. Congrats on the great reviews. Both books are wonderful. 🙂

I never wore leg warmers in the eighties. I was too short. Now’s my chance. I’m still short but I’m old now and don’t care what people think.
Nov 11, 2015 @ 19:53:35
What a wonderful feeling that must be Lorna. Congrats. I can’t wait to read it. 😉

The first edition (red cover) has lots of reviews. Unfortunately the 2nd edition doesn’t have many and the reviews from the first edition won’t link to the 2nd edition. Oh well!
Nov 11, 2015 @ 01:25:41
I agree with you that some things deserve revisiting (and others perhaps not so much). I’m going to check the reviews. Your memoir sounds fabulous!
Nov 10, 2015 @ 19:31:08
I’m keeping my first edition — it’ll be a collector’s edition someday!

Thanks for popping by, Janni! Love always! ❤
Nov 10, 2015 @ 10:58:45
Thanks, C! And you read LOTS of books! :0)
Nov 10, 2015 @ 10:57:42
I hope so. Took e 11 years to write! 😉
Nov 10, 2015 @ 10:57:08
Elements of all those times keep popping up as “all the rage.” It’s amazing. You haven’t missed a thing!
Nov 10, 2015 @ 10:55:33
Thanks, Gayle! Yup. Mini-skirts are out of the question for me as well. 😉
Nov 10, 2015 @ 10:53:50
I hear you, Gerry! The only thing new about me is the new wrinkles I keep seeing! 😐
Nov 10, 2015 @ 01:51:58
I wish the sentence referred to people as well, me especially. everything old stays old…UK also has an obesity problem and mini skirts would have be elongated mini skirts…..
Nov 09, 2015 @ 21:26:46
Hi Lorna! I think it’s common for things of the past to be recycled and spit out as new…and maybe even improved. I was one of those nubile lovelies in the 60s who wore mini skirts but I’m smart enough to know that now that I’m in my 60s I shouldn’t dare wear one again! Continued success with your most entertaining and endearing memoir.
Hugs,
Gayle

You mean you don’t follow the fashion blogs, Al? Come on, Buddy, me thinks you need to step of the Pickle court and reprioritize! 😉
Nov 09, 2015 @ 16:32:08
Wait a minute! The mini-skirt is making a comeback? Where?
Nov 09, 2015 @ 16:20:29
Lots of inspiration in your memoir, Lorna.
Have the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s already made a second coming–those are my times and I think I missed them.
Nov 09, 2015 @ 16:19:44
What goes around, comes around … so that means your memoirs will be selling for a long time.
Nov 09, 2015 @ 16:06:35
It’s one of my favorite memoirs!
Nov 09, 2015 @ 15:59:05
So true everything old is called new again. Except in our case because we were there the first and second times lol. Congrats on your book reviews, you deserve them, wise and wonderful writer you are. Much success wished your way now and always. And, as always, thanks for the giggles. ❤️

🙂 & ❤ reblogged the interview on Tazzielove. Now for sales to the moon!
