I should look happy. I was happy. My Honey took this picture at a Bar Harbor B & B in Maine when I was still an East Coast gal with hair.
March 20th is the International Day of Happiness.
Shouldn’t every day be a day of happiness?

Total rhetorical question. Alex always asked a lot of questions–even before he could talk. Sorry. Must be genetic. Like our ears.
Well, nothing makes me happier than a genuine belly laugh.
That’s not true.
A lot of things make me very happy, but laughing is a good way to get the ball rolling…not that my belly resembles a ball, or anything…
Speaking of “ball,” I recently watched an episode of the old classic “I Love Lucy” starring Lucille Ball.
Golly, she was silly.
In this episode, she wrangled her way onto television by replacing a professional actress hired to sell a product during Ricky’s show. The product, ostensibly a health elixir called “Vitameatavegamin,” was 23% alcohol–something Lucy did not know.
If you have time (less than 20 minutes) the whole episode can be viewed on You Tube.
Just to give you a peek at what made me burst out laughing, watch this 2 minute clip.
I hope it gives you at least a chuckle with which to commemorate International Happiness Day!

Too funny. It’s like when I made the heart-shaped meatloaf (remember that from my book?). That was my Lucy Moment!
Mar 24, 2015 @ 15:01:16
Yes, true. I come here and it’s sunnier and warmer than usual. My luck! 😉
Mar 24, 2015 @ 13:18:00
That’s because of the drought!
Mar 24, 2015 @ 12:10:53
That’s exactly what I think.
But sometimes I feel like I live her life — when we first moved to Switzerland I was in the grocery store, where I paid with a 200 franc note. Suddenly, the cashier called all the other cashiers ove and the manger. They all started looking at the bill I’d just paid with. All I could thnk of was the episode where Lucy is in Paris and gets arrested for counterfeiting! It turned out, the Swiss had just redesigned the 200 franc note and mine was the first one any of the store personnel had seen!
Mar 24, 2015 @ 11:28:07
Oh, that was a great one, too. I’ll have to look for it!
Mar 24, 2015 @ 11:25:56
Hope your weekend was a good one!
Mar 24, 2015 @ 11:25:13
I remember the morning very well. It was such a quaint B & B off the beaten path in Bar Harbor. Fun times…
Mar 24, 2015 @ 11:24:00
I don’t remember that one. I’ll have to look for it. I can’t watch her too long before she wears on me, but a dose here and there of some of her better episodes are often just what the giggle doctor ordered. 😉
Mar 24, 2015 @ 11:19:26
Yes, I, too, love clean comedy. It’s more clever and creative than using foul language to get a laugh. And I don’t see what’s so funny about dropping F-bombs all the time.
Mar 23, 2015 @ 21:20:45
Thanks, V. You understand. But the rain is not bothersome for two reasons. There isn’t as much as I expected and I love gloomy days. 🙂
Mar 23, 2015 @ 21:19:20
I’m glad! Love that episode, too!
Mar 23, 2015 @ 12:41:30
Gosh I miss my East Coast Girl. The picture of you, made me smile. I love the episode with the candy on the belt, faster..faster…faster…..
Mar 21, 2015 @ 15:08:57
I remember that episode…no doubt, from the original airing. Yikes. Anyway, I agree, when I try to remember that attitude of gratitude, everyday can be happy. I sense your transplantation and losing Scrappy is not making that so easy for you. And then there’s Oregon’s rain. We actually considered moving there but…be well, my friend. May things be easier soon.
Mar 21, 2015 @ 00:10:39
I always wathced the Lucy show. She and Ethel wrapping candy was a hysterical episode. That was when you could tell a joke and not use x-language. I dislike x-humor. Anyway, that’s a fun pix of you. 🌺
Mar 20, 2015 @ 20:36:57
I am not a huge Lucy fan, but sometimes nothing quite hits the spot like she does.
My favorite episode, watched when I’d had abdominal surgery and couldn’t laugh was when they were coming back from Europe and Lucy wanted to bring a loaf of provalone. It cost money to bring cheese, so she disguised it as a baby… hilarity ensued.
Mar 20, 2015 @ 17:40:53
Aww, love that photo of you with the daisies. So sweet. And, I love Lucy too. 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 15:51:05
I always loved Lucy too. 🙂 Cute photo of you with the daisies. Happy weekend, Lorna. xx
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:50:21
I think my favorite was working on the pie line.
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:08:49
She sure did have those facial expressions down to a comedic science! 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:08:09
I understand. That’s why I need a does of this kind of thing to yank me out of whatever it is that has me in a funk!
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:06:53
It’s a cockatoo and it reminds me of my dearly departed Reggie. All Triton cockatoos look the same and it’s something he would have done (but I never would have let him wander around on my stove top!). 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:05:15
As I’ve been watching the various episodes, I find myself smiling at some of the antics, but this one had me roaring with laughter. Every once in a while she was just so zany! Glad you enjoyed it, Gerry! 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 12:02:40
I remember laughing when she got drunk on the stuff. I didn’t remember how funny it was it the beginning. She was such a comedic genius with her facial expressions!
Mar 20, 2015 @ 11:59:26
Wasn’t that hysterical? Yes, do pass it on! 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 11:58:50
They must sell cotton candy–that is something that makes lots of people happy! 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 11:57:30
Great motto! I liked the Dick Van Dyke show, too–those old comedies were the greatest! 🙂
Mar 20, 2015 @ 11:19:43
It’s my motto to laugh at least once each day. If I haven’t laughed by the end of the day, I put on an episode of one of my favorite comedies. That means it’s one of two shows, but my fave is the old Dick Van Dyke show. I remember that old Lucy episode. It really is hilarious. Thanks for sharing the laughs.
Mar 20, 2015 @ 10:43:20
Are you KIDDING me with “the rifle to the behind” image???????
I didn’t laugh when I saw it, I passed out….right here, at my desk, with no chocolate nearby to revive me…the cat chewed my hair off while I was unconscious, so now I don’t have hair….I think I must go to that place called “International” so that I can take part in their day of happiness. Do they sell cotton candy there?
Mar 20, 2015 @ 10:43:19
I Love Lucy! Literally. Thanks for the belly laugh. I needed it. Now to pass it on . . .
Mar 20, 2015 @ 07:21:11
I remember watching that original episode. Must have been in a previously life.
Mar 20, 2015 @ 05:16:21
I used to love the Lucy show, yes we did get it here, but the laughter made me laugh sometimes more than the jokes… they certainly dont make shows like this anymore…thanks Lorna I enjoyed this memory as well…..
Mar 20, 2015 @ 03:27:23
The video of the cockatoo (or cockatiel-I never remember which is which) feeding spaghetti to the dog is one of my favorites. Animal videos are always good for a bit of happiness.
Mar 20, 2015 @ 01:35:37
I try to be happy everyday, but some make it very difficult…. some I mean, some of me….
Mar 20, 2015 @ 01:15:42
Awww, Lucy, she still makes me laugh. The eyes have it. So round and “innocent”. Thanks for the laugh, Lorna x
