I’ve never been particularly good at magic or tricks.
With me, what you see is what you get.
The jury is still out on whether that’s always such a good thing.
Anyway, if the trick is knowing when “enough is enough,” I’m sunk.
This is my round-about way of telling you that my plate platter table is filling up faster than a Thanksgiving feast at the White House.
We bought a house in the Portland area today.
I have to sell my condo and get ready for a move across the vast country of the U.S.A.
I know how vast it is because I just traveled across it this weekend and the jet lag is a bummer. At least the early American pioneers (the ones who arrived here, not the ones that were already here) traveled by horse and wagon, so they took it slowly and the time difference wasn’t so hard on them. But the seats were probably just as uncomfortable as Economy Class seats.
I’m still proofing my paper back version of Never Turn Back.
Guess what?
I’m finding teeny tiny gaffes of the “why didn’t I see that when I was proofing the e-book?” variety.
Not to worry. I’ll fix them and reload the book onto (into? up to?) Kindle and you can snag it again since you already own it–if you already own it. I’ll let you know when the corrected version is ready, deal?
I’m a perfectionist and want it as clean for your reading pleasure as possible. You’d do the same for me. I know it.
So I’m a bit a little majorly stressed right now.
If I don’t get to reading your blog posts, don’t think I’m an ungrateful louse. I just feel like the wheels are coming off the wagon–my wagon. Thank goodness I don’t have to pack a wagon!
I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t know when enough is enough.
Take a look at this very funny video. You’ll see what I mean.
Do you feel a bit over-extended? It’s okay to vent if you like. I can at least try to read, empathize quickly and put up a sad face.

Yup!

Sounds like that makes it easier to be driven insane.

Turn that into a County-Western song, and you may be talking about half of somthin’! 🙂
Oct 25, 2014 @ 09:18:55
I have every confidence in the world in you, my friend! 🙂
Oct 24, 2014 @ 16:41:49
Give me a few days and I’ll come up with a genius idea. GENIUS I tell you…hopefully 🙂
Oct 24, 2014 @ 16:01:14
You know what they say, half of nothing………
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:56:47
Bummer!

Actually, we are going to be in Washington State–it’s a bit closer for Philip’s commute to work up in Clakstaine (or some such place north). Rigewood is the community we’ll be living in. But we’ll be close!

Don’t be too rough on her, Al. Maybe just reduce her inheritance by half or something… 😉
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:38:57
🙂
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:38:40
Oh, I’m so glad! Ignore the typos, by the end of the weekend, you should be able to download a cleaner version for free since you already own one. That’s what I’ve been working on!
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:36:05
Good physical and metaphysical advice, Vanessa. Have you come up with any new angle on having me over on you blog to promote my book?
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:34:56
I saw that cat video and knew I had to use it somehow! 🙂
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:34:08
So far, I’ve had an easy time letting go of my sanity… 😉
Oct 24, 2014 @ 15:33:18
I had several pairs of eyes proofread for me. I thought I would do one last read for the Kindle version, then gt the paperback out. Just to be sure, I did one more “one last” read. I found more errors. I think gremlins are in my computer!

Thanks, Robin! We’ve run into a few snags–some minor, others major–with the new house. All this uncertainty and we’re 4,000 miles from it all, so it’s hard to know what to do! Someone has to remind me to breathe! 😉

Personally, I am exhausted just by reading about all that is on your table or plate… I love the humor despite your frustration. Moving is a big deal. Your book on Kindle, quite a huge deal, your being just married, another eventful and stressful addition to all you have here. But life is full of joy, mystery and changes. You are the Mistress (or Master) of it all, Lorna! I would have put a ‘Busy, gone fishing’ sign up on a post and not worried about losing touch! Good luck on your seeking perfectionism and editing your book, my friend! Enjoy having new ‘digs’ sometime soon, too! Best of luck in all you do, we will stay in touch. Smiles, Robin

This isn’t a surprise…that you’re feeling overwhelmed at this point. You’re going through some major life changes…so be sweet to yourself and take it easy. I was a proofreader at one time and it was said that you should never try and proofread your own work…always have a fresh pair of eyes doing that job for you. I hope you’ll be very happy in your new home, Lorna! xoxo

I know how much stress I dealt with when moving about 5-6 miles earlier this year … but I can’t imagine doing so across the country!
Balance is important during this times … that is, you have a lot on your plate, so you can’t do it all. For me, I let blogging go, which helped a lot. Here’s the question that you can only answer … what can you let go?
Hang in there!

Don’t let that adorable and every-so-funny-actually-hilarious cat vid push your I-hate-that-I-hafta-pack-and-move buttons. Smooches to you as always. ❤
Oct 22, 2014 @ 10:53:22
It’s all happening Lorna! Remember to fasten your safety belt (I’m pretty sure I’m being all deep and metaphorical here, but if not, then just take it as sensible travel advice when you’re on the plane).
Oct 22, 2014 @ 07:28:04
Ooh. Jet-lag. Not fun at all, I know, but the move should be exciting, or I hope so. Started your book and loving it 🙂
Oct 22, 2014 @ 07:27:15
I’ve just started it myself, and it looks like “A right goodun” to me as well.
Oct 22, 2014 @ 07:04:12
Portland’s a neat place…you’re a lucky gal. Patty is really enjoying your book. It’s the first time she has read a book on a tablet so she’s doubly excited. I know she will write a good review for you. If she doesn’t, I’ll cut her out of the will.

Portland, Oregon? That’s my neck of the woods!! Great city. One of their mottos is “Keep Portland weird.” You will do your part, right? And if you are moving to Portland, Maine — never mind.
