Is your internet slow today?
Well no wonder!
Ka-tons (that is a scientific term for “a lot”) of people should be downloading copies of both of my books FOR FREE.
Starting TODAY (Friday the 17th) and ending at midnight on Sunday, the 19th the only two books I ever wrote are yours, free, in e-book form, on Amazon.
If you don’t have a Kindle, then get yourself a Kindle Ap. I hear they’re everywhere. Amazon offers one for free, go figure.
Just don’t miss this opportunity to save yourself some $$$$ and snag some extra-fine reading for your pile of books you’ve been meaning to read.
This is my new novel. It’s serious historical fiction set mainly in Paris (France, not Paris Island or Paris, Texas or Paris Hilton) during the early to mid-1900’s.
Just because it’s based on the real life of my grandmother, don’t think that this is some kind of “chick lit.” Yes, women will love it. But men will enjoy it too. Think Hitler, guys. And sex. Yes. I said sex. I’m not saying that this is like a James Bond thriller, but, men, there’s intrigue, and sex. Did I mention sex?

Although the book is available worldwide, those are really the only markets Amazon gave me links to. If they give me more, I’ll put them on my Never Turn Back Book Page.
Still not sure? Let me share one of the 5-star reviews I already have gotten on the book.
“Dreaming of becoming a famous designer, the protagonist, Meri, burns through on the page in a once vibrant Paris bracing for Hitler’s invasion. Faced with a pregnancy by a Jewish man, Meri is intent on keeping the secret and surviving at all costs in an increasingly hostile environment. Never Turn Back is a captivating narrative, a metaphor for the longing and conviction of youth that surmounts horrors and tragedies. In one heart-wrenching turn after another the brilliant writing of Lorna Lee weaves a compelling tale—based on real people—that glues the reader to the page and keeps the imagery of this story in our minds, and hearts, for days after the last page is shut.” Review by Paulette Mauhrin, author of The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap and the newly released His Name Was Ben.
I decided to give away free copies of the second edition of my award-winning memoir because…well, why not?

I’m in the book. I’m also available for social gatherings. No cats, please. They distract me from my general cuteness.
Many of you may not have read it, and, believe me and lots of other readers, it’s one funny yet poignant book.

I mean, how could you resist reading about how this clueless kid grew up to be this clueless blogger?
Just because this book is about me, don’t think it’s not about you–even you guys out there. It’s about how life throws lightning bolts at you (well it did at me–twice), but you have to stop smoldering and get on with living the best life you know how. Okay, if you’ve never, ever, had a bad day or a problem in your life, then this book isn’t for you. Everyone else, you’ll probably find something inspiring in this funny book.

I’m thinking I don’t need to read this book about life’s ups and downs. I’ve only ever known the ups.
Don’t believe me? Fine. How about this 5-star review from a reader named Doris?
“How Was I Supposed to Know? The Adventures of a Girl Whose Name Means Lost is a story about love, life and second chances.
It was not what I expected; I thought it was going to be another boring memoir; it was not boring at all Lorna is very funny and approached her memories in a different way this made the book very appealing, it seems I was reading a novel not a memoir. The book is beautifully written, easy to read, and the pictures help the chapters as they progress. I was there through the entire ride, her childhood, marriage, the drinking, the pain and lessons.
Please Read this book…The book is about love the kind of love that we often forget but is the most important.”

Go to my How Was I Supposed To Know Book Page on my blog to learn more about the book and for links to other markets.
No free lunches, though, People!
I really need your honest reviews on Amazon. If you do a review on your blog, send me the link via email so I know about it and I can reblog to send traffic to you, okay? You’ll find my email on each book’s page referenced above.

Um. Where’s my thesaurus? I need more superlative adjectives for my reviews of Lorna’s writing. Frankly, I’m blown away. I have to get these books on the pre-school summer reading list.
Only I could turn a reminder into a 900 word post. Sorry!

SOOOOO true. And I’m trying!

I’m a proofer/editor by trade, and I’m always amazed that after I go through a ms with tooth and comb (as the old expression goes) I still miss something. But being a perfectionist and an independent publisher is a GOOD thing. We want to prove we’re just as good as the ‘big guys.’

Every thing I read and hear about marketing a new book says that it is the way to go. I’m not totally convinced. I got about 500 downloads over the weekend. IF even half of those people review my book, I think it’s worth it because of the way Amazon ranks books based on reviews. Sure I want to make money on my book since I spent so much on it, but if those people who got it for free tell others they liked it and those others buy it…I guess that’s the logic.
By the way, I’m proofing the paper back now for Create Space. I’m finding lots of little gaffes. I’ll go back and correct them in the e-book, when I do, I’ll notify everyone to download another copy–it will be free since you already have one. I’m a perfectionist and thought I took care of all these little things. Apparently goblins were working when I wasn’t looking to make me look human rather than perfect! 😐

Forgiven
Oct 21, 2014 @ 13:02:36
Forgive me, Rob, I was about to take off for Portland, OR to house-hunt and my stress levels are sky high (above flying altitude). When that happens, my brain does all kinds of things I cannot be held responsible for… 😐

Thanks for the links. I only gave what Amazon provided to me. I hope others saw this. I’ll do another 2-day promotion and suggest that route–search for the books using my name, that way they will get to the proper links on whatever amazon service they are using…

*sings untunefully* ‘Oh, free’s a jolly good sell-oh, free’s a jolly good …’
For those in other countries who want the books, and who are told they are only available in UK or whatever; that is a lie. Go to::
and
I was in South Africa when last I looked – and I have both books!
Don’t hold your breath while I read them, though … my life is a bit cimplocated at the moment!

Hey, thank you! I really hope you enjoy them. Let me and the rest of the world know what you think of them. There’s no such thing as too many reviews! 😉

Thanks for the shout-out. I am only one dizzy blonde. I can’t do it all! 🙂

I want a copy on my kindle and just downloaded it. I hope that everyone who downloads it will take the time to write a review for it. That helps with Amazon promoting it. 🙂
Oct 17, 2014 @ 09:45:21
Just got mine! 🙂

GREAT BOOK: DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE KINDLE BOOK.
Oct 17, 2014 @ 07:38:42
What a clever way to promote your books…and get some reviews. You are inspiring me! I have downloaded Never Turn Back – thank you for the freebie. I know you work HARD to write that book, and I know it’s hard ‘giving it away.’ I haven’t yet been able to gulp and do that with my two books. But, let me know if it’s a good way to help readers find you, your books, and your talent. Good luck!
Oct 17, 2014 @ 07:28:20
Thank you so much, Lorna. I really look forward to reading these two books. The reviews so far are very complimentary. Good luck to you. 🙂
