The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for me.
How nice.
I noticed that my “most read” posts in 2013 were all from 2011 and 2012. Have I become as “has been” before I ever became a “was?”

I sort of feel like Earring Magic Ken. Yup. He was pulled off the market quicker than most people can say, “Is it me or is something just not right about Barbie’s new boyfriend wearing an earring?”
Well, People, I’ll just have to up my game for 2014. I’ve got some wind-ding-along ideas to bedoozle you.

Now you know my secret. I get my best silly ideas when I’m very relaxed. And nothing says “relaxed” more than razor-sharp kitty claws kneading those sore muscles.
I finished the first draft of my novel and now I’m making it less drafty.
When that’s finished, I’ll be back to bedoozzle you with my witterific posts, zantastic pictures and snickgigglerous captions. Bet you can’t wait.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 25,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 9 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
Click here to see the complete report.
Or not. I know you’re busy trying to forget your New Year’s resolutions.
Let’s just say that this blog is the place to go for people:
*looking for what the phrase “to be honest with you” means. Honestly, I wish I knew.
*women with buzz cuts. Don’t ask.
*how to shower your cockatoo. Good luck with that.
People from about 140 different countries have read my blog. Wow. I could use my power for world peace rather than confusification.
Finally, I want to thank all my wonderful followers. Even if you stumbumbled here by mistake, you rock! I know lots of you actually keep coming back for more. That blows my mind. Paulette, Gerry, Al, Izzy, and Rob are real gluttons for my kind of punishment. You should check them out if you don’t already know these awesome bloggers.
I’ll try not to be gone for too much longer. My marketing company Readem N. Weap Ink, Inc. is putting a lot of pressure on me to get this novel on the shelves–yours, not just mine.

You’re welcome……Thinking of you!
Feb 07, 2014 @ 20:27:20
Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes the “like” button should be the “I was here” button. 🙂 Thanks for the kind thoughts, Suzanne!
Feb 02, 2014 @ 21:45:18
I clicked “like”, but I DON’T like…..I’ll be thinking of you….let us know how you’re doing…hate to hear that you’re having problems…”not my little Lorna!!”….I’ll be thinking of you…xoxoxoxo

Thanks so much! I intend to post something of an instruction list to be a codicil to bloggers’ wills.
I’m seeing a surgeon tomorrow. I hope he has a plan of action. This not eating thing is creating havoc with my wardrobe!
Jan 29, 2014 @ 13:02:38
I’ve had similar thoughts about bloggers leaving the lights on at the blog, but nobody is home anymore. Did they die? Give up? One blog I absolutely loved was on the Recommended List of Humor Blogs for 2 years after the guy had posted a thing!
Maybe we should all have to write it in our wills that somebody has to come to WordPress to turn off the lights when we shuffle off this mortal coil, hmm?
Hope they figure out what’s wrong and you’re feeling better soon, Lorna.
Jan 26, 2014 @ 17:47:21
That would be fun, Peter! How is your book (and it’s author) doing?
Jan 24, 2014 @ 16:09:14
You know Tots, since I’ve stopped blogging to work on the book, I’ve gotten about 2-3 new followers each week. Now how they heck do you supposed that is happening???? 😉
Jan 23, 2014 @ 18:44:22
Maybe you probably could author a dictionary or offer some sorta translation for this terminology I’m learning and whatnot. I guess we’re all subject to being has beens for those not reading the blog posts anymore. But then, new folk think you’re the hottest thing since them chickenmabobs on a stick.
Jan 21, 2014 @ 13:02:04
Thanks so much! 🙂

Reblogged this on A Guide to Blogging for Profit.

I’ve got the book AND some recent bad karma. Undiagnosed abdominal pain. May have to remove my gallbladder even though all tests show it’s functioning normally. Everything I eat hurts (even smoothies) 20 minutes after it goes down. Ruled out everything typical, but, as you know, I’m not typical girl! I’ve lost 8 pounds in 8 days and they ran out of tests. I see a gasto doc next week (Thursday) and a surgeon the following day. Should be really skinny by then! 😐
Jan 17, 2014 @ 15:56:51
Thanks, Margie! 🙂
Jan 17, 2014 @ 13:16:35
Congrats on another year of blogging! Remember, it isn’t the stats, it is the satisfaction of a job well done!
Jan 14, 2014 @ 01:28:02
Happy New year, Lorna.
I’ve been AWOL lately and don’t even have a completed book to explain the absence. Just lots of bad karma.
Jan 09, 2014 @ 08:52:31
Your post made me smile. I always enjoy those annual reports. I remember, “The bus shelter off Addlestone street holds six people. If your Blog was that bus shelter, you would need to do some thorough refurbishments. If I have not already done so, may I wish you a very happy 2014 and a great success for your novel. Perhaps our two books could end up on the same book shelf and become chums. We could write a post about the conversations they would have with each other along the lines of “What’s your author like?” referring to me, and my book shaking its spine in disbelief because no one can believe how much trouble it was to get me organised !
Jan 09, 2014 @ 07:48:02
Thanks! Can you believe that bit of marketing genius? Dads refused to buy that doll, not wanting to promote any chance that Ken (and others) might come of their respective closets… 😉
Jan 08, 2014 @ 16:33:37
Good luck with the novel – you are an inspiration! Also looking forward to the Bedoozling of 2014, although it sounds like something that Earring Magic Ken would be doing.
Jan 08, 2014 @ 14:11:23
Thanks for the peppy response! I’ve revved up and ready to go! 🙂
Jan 07, 2014 @ 16:39:14
HURRAY for progress!! YAY for strategizing! And…CHEERS to you, Mizz Lorna! 🙂
Jan 07, 2014 @ 09:18:32
That should be your next post–a parody of that movie! 🙂
Jan 07, 2014 @ 09:04:24
Congratulations on getting your novel drafted! I hope it becomes “less drafty” soon so we can all read it. Way to go!
Jan 07, 2014 @ 08:37:12
Hi again. Meant to tell you….my most read post is “No country for old men….the sequel” from 2 1/2 year ago. It’s about my 50th high school reunion, but I think it gets hits because people are hoping it is about an upcoming sequel to the movie.
Jan 07, 2014 @ 08:24:19
Up here the windows are frozen shut! But thanks for the tip anyway… 😉
Jan 06, 2014 @ 22:31:21
Good news on the novel. If it’s too drafty try just closing the window as you write.
P.S. Thanks for the plug.
Jan 06, 2014 @ 14:53:52
Thanks for sharing that, Harry. Good to know that I’m not alone! 🙂
Jan 06, 2014 @ 14:05:14
Same with me my most read post is from three years ago 🙂
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:58:01
Once the book has gone through the professional edit, would you consider reading and reviewing it for me?
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:40:49
Great on finishing the first draft! 🙂
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:28:21
Thanks Ursula! Unlike you (imagine that!), I craved to know the grades on my report card. They were evidence of my existence and proof of my validity. Sorry state of affairs, I know, but true. I just used the WP report as a vehicle to send a note out to let you know I’m still around. I miss you. Had to say so in my round about way… 😉
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:24:02
So do I! Let’s make it happen J!
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:23:36
Thanks Ruth! Always nice to hear from you. Keep as warm as you can!
Jan 06, 2014 @ 11:22:52
Isn’t that the truth?! Congrats on your book! After I finish my edit, I’m paying a professional editor to go through it. Even then, there will be mistakes. If a human creates it, there will be mistakes! 🙂
Jan 06, 2014 @ 10:36:30
Glad to hear the first draft is done… mine as well… but damn that editing can be a royal pain in the butt… my eyes see one thing but my brain reads another… good luck with yours…
Jan 06, 2014 @ 09:36:29
“I’m making it less drafty…” Now that’s a fun picture 🙂 Was just thinking about your writing. Blessings on this windy cold
day and draft control!
Jan 06, 2014 @ 03:12:04
The Year of the Giggle – I like that!
Jan 06, 2014 @ 01:37:29
What do you mean “How did I do?” Nothing, Lorna. Nothing. And that won’t do. Still, why not worry friends by one’s absence. It’ll pass time.
I too had my notification about my wordpress end of year report. Unlike you I am so NOT interested I haven’t even opened it yet. I do have, always had (ask my mother and/or any teacher), a strong aversion to people giving me stars/stripes or the thumbs DOWN. Though, technically, and not understood by the rest of the world, ask any Roman, it should be thumbs UP – that’s when you knew your time had come, lions and all that. Oh to be a gladiator and/or Christian: Sure fire way to take a short cut to your grave.
Other than that you give a whole new meaning to being “on the shelf”. Which is where I’d love to stay. No offence to browsers.
Good luck, Lorna. Great to hear from you. A few days in, not too late to wish you a Happy New Year. May all your print come true and see the light.
U
