Oh Dear. Am I late? I simply could not decide if this was the front of this dress. I’m still not sure…
I never quite understood the idea of being fashionably late.
Either you arrive on time or stay away. Making a grand entrance after everyone has already arrived seems, I don’t know, snobby. It says, “Now that the important person has arrived, let the party commence.” That’s just arrogant and very un-Buddhist-like.
No, you’ll never see me arrive fashionably late to anything. I’m the Early Girl.
Except when it comes to one thing. Accepting blog awards. I seem to have a problem with prompt and proper acknowledgement of these awards given with the kindest of intentions. Yup, when it comes to recognizing these awards I’m embarrassingly unfashionably late.
Why? I hope you know, because I spent a lot of time–time I could have spent writing acceptance posts–trying to answer this question and I’m still befuddled.

All the pondering in the world, and I’m still bamboozled. Maybe I should adjust my mediation posture…
I have a few theories:
1. I’m incredibly humble–but people who say that usually aren’t.
2. I’m confused by the rules–a very likely possibility given my dizzy blondeness
3. I’m busy and these acceptance posts take a long time–oh, come on, who isn’t busy?
4. I’m too old a blogger for these awards–they should go to new bloggers who need the exposure and the confidence boost
5. I forgot–hey, is your memory what it used to be?
All that being said, in the past several months, three bloggers have bestowed upon me four blog awards (that I know of). It’s time that I acknowledge their kindness and generosity and attempt to fulfill my duties as the recipient of these various awards. Notice, I said “attempt.”
Thank you, Gerry, from Restawyle, for passing along to me the Inner Peace Award Award and Super Sweet Blogger Award.
Thank you, Jazzytower, from Thoughts and Entanglements, for giving me the Beautiful Blogger Award.
Thank you, Coach Muller, from Good Time Stories, for nominating me for the Best Moments Award.
*****
Each award has different rules. Of course. But all require that I thank and link back to the giver of the award.
Now here’s where it gets hairy. Or fun, depending on your mood. Each award asks different things of the recipient.

Why, Reginald! I didn’t know you were expecting that kind of thing when you said you wanted to get to know me better…
Do you want to know a few secrets about me? If you read my memoir, you know I don’t have any secrets left to tell. If you read any of my prior award acceptance posts, what little I left out of the memoir, I reveal in this blog. I’ve been an open book, People. So ask me a question in the comments section and I’ll answer it.
Passing on theses awards is always problematic for me. Some of you have been with me from the start; some of you are new to my blog. I think these awards do the most good to bloggers who are just starting out. They lift you up and help you get noticed. But, then again, it’s always nice to be recognized by bloggers you admire, right? Even if you’ve been recognized before. So, what to do? What to do?
I don’t want to leave anyone out. You all deserve recognition. But, if everyone gets an award, the award loses its special appeal, doesn’t it?
Do you see my dilemma? Do you understand why I have been putting this off? It has nothing to do with humility or forgetfulness or business. I’m a wimp. I’m the mother who told her son not to worry about who wins or loses in a soccer game. “As long as you had fun, you’re a winner.” That’s what I told him. I’m surprised he never got beat up. I’m surprised I never got beat up.
So, who gets these various awards? It’s self-serve, People. If you don’t already have the award or really feel like you want a duplicate, go for it! Don’t be shy. Awards are good to display on your site!
If you have the good sense to follow my blog, you have the right to any one or all of these awards. (That didn’t sound too arrogant or un-Buddhist-like of me, did it?) Hey, I’m doing this for you, not for me…
If you take the award, you should know the rules that go with it. Heck, never follow my example! Click on each of the following award names to find the rules as they were presented to me.

Thanks so much! And I really appreciate that you took the time to comment. 🙂 I always love to hear from new blogger friends!

So funny -> “very un-Buddhist-like”
I like that, it works for pretty much anything! 🙂
Congrats on all of your sweet awards. What a grand way to share the joy, a mass awards ceremony for those that want it. I like your style, Lorna! 😉

Touche! 🙂
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:32:55
I know you mean… I have some to give away. 😆
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:19:38
At least I didn’t end up in the Spam folder, where few awards are found !
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:17:50
Can you be any sweeter? 🙂
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:17:11
I can’t imagine having to wear something like that AND enjoy the evening. Then again, women probably weren’t supposed to enjoy themselves that much back then…
Thanks for popping by and commenting. I really appreciate it! 🙂
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:15:41
Yes, Al, ironically, there is. But it is spelled “Pull It Sir.” Say it fast and no one will know the difference… 😉
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:14:17
Feel free to copy mine. 🙂
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:13:37
Oh, please, don’t. I feel as if a burden has just been lifted by posting this long overdue post. I appreciate the kindness of anyone who thinks of me as deserving of an award, but I have so many. Spread the love to those who aren’t so well endowed (maybe that didn’t come out right, but you know what I mean!). 🙂
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:11:24
Ah, the best award EVER! 🙂 Consider yourself awarded with the same–that is, with my whole heart…
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:10:27
Hey, send me the “No more wards please” badge. I am not clever enough to make one up and I need it. Badly!
Huggies back to you, my dear!
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:09:08
To follow the rules of passing them on to 15 other bloggers (with links) is, indeed, a lot of work. It is nice to be singled out for recognition and I feel badly that I am depriving wonderful bloggers like you of that feeling. But I’m also saving you from the same conundrum that I experienced. So maybe it balances out? 😉
Jul 17, 2013 @ 11:06:49
Hey, thank YOU for both of the awards. I still have to put them on my awards page, but at least I finally got around to acknowledging them. Whew!
Jul 17, 2013 @ 06:49:48
Rules! without them we would have nothing but crockery and hearts to break……. thank you for the mention and love the originality of the post.. my way of Awards,, no rules and open to everyone that wish them….;) Thanks
Jul 17, 2013 @ 06:32:00
It never surprises me that you get a lot of Blog awards, and you deserve every one of them. I’ve had one or two but I never quite know what to do with all that linking and stuff so, although I always thank the giver, I never go any further with them. Having said that, they are always cheering to receive and I’m always touched to get them. Perhaps I should learn to do more.
Jul 16, 2013 @ 20:34:27
hahaha … I’m with you I am so late on THANKING people for the awards I’ve received I’ll have to do research to find where I put them. I thought I was being clever when I found a badge that said, ‘ No awards , Please’. Have I put it up??? NO. I loved them all and I love the people that give them to me I just wish I didn’t have to pass them to others and feel guilty for the ones I left out.
Your an award winner with or without them, mi amiga.
Congrats on all of them.
Huggies …. not the diaper kind. LOLOL
Jul 16, 2013 @ 15:58:39
Understand. Have awarded you my heart. The rules for that: nuttin honey. Wuv U.
Jul 16, 2013 @ 15:58:07
Oh dear, this just reminded me that I have to take mine out and spread the joy of giving. Would you care to have some of my awards? Can I nominate you?
Jul 16, 2013 @ 15:41:03
I’m just the same as you, both about always being the early girl arrival anywhere (often sitting outside in the car thinking “How early is too early to go in? They said to arrive between 7 and 7.30, well there’s only 10 minutes to go now till 7, is that ok?”, and I’m also like you about not having done any award acceptance posts for a while either, but hey ho!
Jul 16, 2013 @ 14:42:41
What can I say? I’m flabbergasted (don’t worry…it doesn’t hurt much). An award for following another blog! And only 577 other people in all of human history have ever won this! (Ironically, all on the same day)
One question. Is there also a Pulitzer for blog following?
Jul 16, 2013 @ 14:00:04
I especially liked the dog. The dress on the stairs–how ultra-rich ’40’s. Do you know how much those dresses used to weigh? They were like a weight lifting program for women.
Jul 16, 2013 @ 13:55:06
Now what I want to know is….. oh nothing… I love you as you are and your humour always gives me a lot of joy… so I don’t want any of the awards.. I don’t accept them in any case… but I always get a good smile or a laugh out loud from your posts and that for me is award enough…
