I don’t know about you–heck, I hardly know about me!–but I’m getting a little eggshausted by all these hammy Easter-egg-related attempts to be a slick word-wizard.
You know what I mean. Eggsactly.
I’m no eggspert, but I’ve done it three times already (not counting the title of this post) and isn’t it starting to get on your nerves? Eggsasperating, huh? And I’ve just started.
I’m not eggsagerating when I say this trend is more prevalent now than ever before. People love eggs (and when I say “people,” I mean “anyone who likes to eat the ova of birds, primarily chickens, which excludes me”). Around Easter, eggs take eggstra significance. You (and by “you,” I mean “you”) could even say they are eggsalted (something to be treasured, not salted, although many people salt their bird ova).

Makes sense once you know the history. You’re going to either have to trust me on this one or do the research. My guess is that you’re going to trust me. Research is hard. As hard as these hard-boiled eggs…
Let me eggsplain. Isn’t Easter either about the Christian celebration of the Resurrection of Christ or a pagan celebration of the coming of spring? Either way, people a long, long time ago figured this time of year was a great time to celebrate new life, and what symbolizes new life like an egg? As long as you (again, “you” means “you”) don’t eat it and let the darned thing hatch. You can check out the link I provided, but you don’t have to. It’s not like there’s going to be an eggsam at the end of this post…or will there be?
Have you had enough eggsamples of what I’m talking about? Are you eggshausted or eggshilarated? Personally, I’m ready to eggsterminate me or at least eggsile me.
But let’s take a deep breath. Good. Now eggshale.

Well, you’ve got the first part down flat. But you’ve got to let that breath go. Otherwise, you’re not quite getting the relaxing thing working for you.
This little eggsercise in eggscesive eggshibits to prove my point was, you’ll have to admit, eggsceptional and well-eggsecuted.
I’ll just be eggsceedingly happy when I can eggsclaim, “Happy Day After Easter!” Then, there will be no more eggscuses for these silly egg words.
And just to prove to you that I am an eggstremely humane and kind person, here is a list of egg-words I chose not to try to force into this post:
- eggscell
- eggschange
- eggscitable
- eggsclude
- eggsecute
- eggslemplary
- eggsempt
- eggsert
- eggshibit
- eggsist
- eggsotic
- eggspenditure
- eggsperience
- eggspire
- eggsplode
- eggsplore
- eggspose
- eggspound
- eggspression
- eggstraordinary
Now, if you’ll all eggscuse me, I believe I need an egg-word eggorcism to eggspell these eggstremely annoying words from my head. Wish me luck. You may need it, too.

Ooh, eggspounding–good one! 🙂
Apr 11, 2013 @ 22:56:53
Eggcellent eggsploration into the world of the egg. (I’ve done a few eggposts myself, and I just never get tired of eggspounding on them.
Mar 29, 2013 @ 10:22:06
Better than frying it!
Mar 28, 2013 @ 11:57:08
I think you scrambled my brain, actually.
Mar 28, 2013 @ 11:40:49
What’s the matter? Did I poach all the egg puns?
Mar 27, 2013 @ 22:02:52
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Mar 27, 2013 @ 12:39:22
🙂
Mar 27, 2013 @ 12:05:35
I am feeling better and it did take a while, but it was fun. Although I should be working on my new book… 😉
Mar 27, 2013 @ 11:35:44
Eggsceptional and well-eggsecuted post … this is one super over-the-top post. WOW … how long did this take to do? You did a fabulous job. My jaw is hanging. You must be feeling well. This required so much thought and, as always, included your humorous approach. Real good, Lorna.
hugs …
Izzy

Mar 26, 2013 @ 12:31:15
Definitely not. I’m the cock of the walk!
(be careful, be very careful)
Mar 26, 2013 @ 12:02:41
I’d have thought you’d be crowing. You’re not hen-pecked are you, Al? 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 12:01:16
I’m plum out of egg puns, too. 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 11:48:12
Seems like you’ve covered everything. I was going to say something about putting all your something in one basket, but the right wording escapes me.
Mar 26, 2013 @ 11:01:42
Yeah, you sure had me cackling.
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:50:10
🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:46:14
Ah, Peter, you do me proud. I love a good pun, too! Laid out–too clever! That, my friend is a feather in your cap! 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:45:15
Good one Al! all yolking aside, I’m a pretty witty, chick, eh? 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:44:05
Ooh, good one! Ovation. I wish I had thought of that. But then again, that’s what great comments are for! Thanks! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:41:26
Eggceptionally well said! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:40:36
I assure you, I shall never become an eggomaniac. As both Buddhist and vegan, my eggsacting standards of moral conduct would never permit such a thing, although I certainly would never judge anyone else for their love of all things eggy. 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:38:14
Good one! I ave a feeling you are full of egg-puns! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:37:24
Eggsactly what I thought! Thanks! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:36:47
Eggscellent! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:36:22
Yes, I imagine it was a challenge to read, but you must have gotten used to it after a while. 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:29:24
I found that I eggsacerbated my own eggsistential thought processes after writing this eggsciting post. I just can’t stop myself! 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:26:23
Glad you enjoyed this eggstra silly post! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 10:23:06
So many egg puns…they get all scrambled up in my head! 😉
Mar 26, 2013 @ 05:44:50
Damn it, I was going to say something about it being no yolk, but someone else has already used the yolk gag! I’ll have to think of another…I’m sure if I think hard enough I’ll be able to crack it! 🙂
Mar 26, 2013 @ 00:34:24
This was so much fun to read! I don’t care for the over-marketing of holidays such as Easter/Hallowe’en/Christmas, etc and this was the ideal antithesis to all the consumerism involved in those. Fine for tiny tots and having an Easter dinner is always lovely but this had me yearning to go buy extra eggs and color them happy 🙂
Mar 25, 2013 @ 22:38:11
Now if I spend the day eggsplaining myself in this manner I’m going to blame you… lol
Mar 25, 2013 @ 19:49:39
I really want to say something clever, but all the good eggwords have been taken…
Mar 25, 2013 @ 19:37:32
That post must have been eggshausting to write. However, it was even more egghausting to read. Good job!
Mar 25, 2013 @ 18:38:15
Eggshilarating post, esp the cartoon of Shelly. Made me cack like a chook.
Mar 25, 2013 @ 16:53:01
Eggplicitly well-eggamined. 😉
Mar 25, 2013 @ 15:11:40
love the post and no treading eggshells here.. love it .;)
Mar 25, 2013 @ 13:27:10
Highest marks, though I hope all of this praise doesn’t turn you into an eggomaniac, I assure you my admiration will never waffle. In solving the mystery of the Easter egg, I consulted the invaluable book “Great Sandwich Recipes of the New Testament” and found that a favorite side dish at the Last Supper was Matthew’s special egg salad recipe which, I understand, went well with a nice poached salmon.
Mar 25, 2013 @ 12:45:58
My Sentiments EggZackly…
Bless You

Mar 25, 2013 @ 11:49:20
Eggcellent reading! You get a standing ovation.
Mar 25, 2013 @ 11:42:46
You’ve got to be yoking with this post.
Mar 25, 2013 @ 11:34:42
I love a good pun. Very well laid out post. Ha Ha ha
