I don’t often use my blog to kvetch kibbitz about my life, but I thought you’d like to know what’s going on with me. I sure would if I were me. Hey wait, I am me…
My Other Gig

Sorry, Ladies. Ignorance of ignorant laws is no excuse for violating those laws. I had to turn you in for flirting.
Anywho, I hope you remember I’m a Contributing Sunday Writer on the crew over at Legends Undying. I started a series over there yesterday that I’ll continue for a while. It’s all about the wacky laws that are still on the books in various states. I started with New York State because that’s where I live. And guess what? I’ve been engaged in some technically criminal behavior. Check the post out. I’ll try to remind you to head over there every Sunday so you don’t miss your state to see if you, too, are up to no good according to arcane and just plain silly state laws.
I’m about to become a PUBLISHED AUTHOR!

This occasion calls for a special celebration, so I picked up this fancy hat. Do you like it? I just can’t wear it near smoke detectors or fire marshals.
I’m working really hard to launch my memoir this Sunday, 1/13/13 in e-book format on both Amazon and Smashwords. The paperback version will be available later in the month or early February. For all of you who were with me a year and a half ago when I was putting my story out on this blog, you’ll finally see the finished product. But don’t think you know the whole story! I left some surprises for the book and the book version is a much smoother read. It should be after all the editing! Plus the pictures I put in it are real ones of me and my family. It turned out to be a big book–almost 115,000 words and over 400 pages. It seems like a lot, but I’m 55 years old and a lot of crazy-pants stuff has happened to me.
I’ll be creating a new page on my blog for the book–a marketing page–so expect the look of my page to change a little. Just a little. But I have to work on that page with week.
My latest malady, which is probably yours, too
You know how much I love the holidays, right? Well, sometime during all that unwanted socializing and merry-making, I picked up the virus that my flu shot was supposed to protect me from. I am, like so many of you, among the barely walking and horribly coughing wounded. I look and feel like a disaster site.
So if:
- you don’t hear much from me much in the near future and
- what you do hear from me isn’t up to my normal standards of high jinks and monkeyshines
now you know why.
My sinuses and lungs are stuffed with grossickiness. All kinds of chemicals meant to deter said grossickiness are coursing through my body and have left a dent in my wallet. My taste buds are on strike and I’m really beginning to resent healthy people. On top of all of this, those healthy people are telling me that this plague lasts for a longer time than the usual 7-10 days weeks. I’d sigh, but that would just throw me into another coughing fit.

This cough is still hanging in there. A stubborn bugger… 😐
Jan 11, 2013 @ 12:00:10
Hope you get better quickly 🙂
Jan 10, 2013 @ 16:42:17
Oh, they would probably add scenes that weren’t real and delete so real crap that happened to me, so I’d say it would be about 2 hours. More if you include goofy outtakes…
Jan 10, 2013 @ 16:35:39
That is a great word and a delightful substitute for cursing!
And thanks for the offer to review my book. I need some feedback to entice potential readers. (I don’t think my cute picture on the cover will do all my marketing for me!)
You’re a sweetheart! I’ll announce on my blog when the book is out–I hope I make my deadline of this Sunday.
Jan 10, 2013 @ 14:47:09
Look forward to the book. 400 pages? How long would the movie be?
Jan 10, 2013 @ 14:31:34
I clicked like–not because you have the flu, but because of your impending book relief. Bravo, my friend. I can’t wait and will definitely review it for you on Goodreads and Amazon. I think it will be therapeutic. To answer your question about how I pick words from the dictionary to jump start writing, I open pages randomly then choose a word that appeals to me at the time. It’s amazing how often a theme emerges. Can’t wait to work with one I chose a couple of days ago: farkleberry. I love it! My new favorite (substitute) expletive!
Jan 10, 2013 @ 13:30:47
Wonderful. The book comes out (I hope) in ebook format on Sunday, so within the next couple of weeks is PERFECT timing! 🙂 🙂
Jan 10, 2013 @ 13:23:32
Sorry I haven’t emailed you yet! Got a lot going on at the mo. But let’s definitely do this within the next couple of weeks! I will email soon…
Jan 09, 2013 @ 17:21:21
Thanks, Peter! Yes, the dream is becoming a reality. I’m going to cough and sneeze my way though to getting this memoir out there!
Jan 09, 2013 @ 15:45:41
Get better soon. Not fun with all that coughing and wheezing, and the book. wow. gasp. Good luck with that. Fantastic achievement.
Jan 09, 2013 @ 10:19:12
I’m trying to feel better, which is totally inconsistent with having fun (at the moment). Thanks! 😐
Jan 08, 2013 @ 19:29:38
Feel better, good luck and don’t forget to have fun.
Jan 08, 2013 @ 16:33:30
I feel your pain, Casey. May The Force be with you! 😐
Jan 08, 2013 @ 14:55:22
I’m in the same predicament. Started the day after Christmas. Forcing myself to keep at the edits for the next book deadline midweek next week but that’s it.
Get healthy.
Jan 08, 2013 @ 14:25:02
Thanks, Ruth! You’ll hear lots more about the book in the upcoming weeks. It’s an exciting accomplishment, and a long time in the making… 😉
Jan 08, 2013 @ 14:20:22
Thanks, Gayle. Getting all these final details right is kind of tough with all this coughing and feeling awful, but I’m really committed to getting the book out. I hope it does well…and I start to do well, too! 😉
Jan 08, 2013 @ 14:18:37
Thanks! Tell everyone you know who might like a funny memoir… 😉
Jan 08, 2013 @ 14:17:50
Gosh, that would be fantastic! I really need to promote my book and I’m not the best self-promoter. My email is lornasvoice@hotmail.com. You can contact me there if it’s easier. Thanks so much!
Jan 08, 2013 @ 05:15:14

Jan 07, 2013 @ 23:16:21
And we all just saw you all chipper…dancing, singing, frolicking (that was frolicking I saw wasn’t it). Gosh that bug worked fast! So very sorry, Lorna.
Congratulations on your soon-to-be-upcoming book! Wow, it did turn out to be a big one…but I’m sure it will be a real page-turner…much success to you. But first things first…get well soon! xoxo

Jan 07, 2013 @ 18:24:09

Thanks for the supportive comments on the book. I hope it’s well-received. I sure put my heart and soul into that thing! 🙂
Jan 07, 2013 @ 18:22:55
Aw, thanks, Al. I did get sick right after the party, but I think it has more to do with my nephew who was ill than my dance moves. At least that’s what I’d like to think. 😉
Jan 07, 2013 @ 18:21:42
I don’t know what to expect, I just know that I’ll be happy to have it out there. Thanks, Diana!
Jan 07, 2013 @ 18:20:48
That’s for sure! I want to party like a rock star–well maybe like a folk star! 😉
Jan 07, 2013 @ 18:19:57
Thanks, Izzy, for the well wishes. I always get the shot and this is first time I’ve gotten the flu. Go figure… 😐
Jan 07, 2013 @ 16:22:11

Jan 07, 2013 @ 12:48:12
I am so looking forward to your book! Get better soon so you can enjoy the accolades that come your way.
Jan 07, 2013 @ 12:40:06
It was all that frolicking around at the dance party!! Get better soon. The rest of us should be as funny healthy as you are sick!
Jan 07, 2013 @ 12:37:59
Yahoo about the book release! Congratulations! When people start ranting and raving about how good your book is can I say I “know” the author? I like to feel important that way.
Get better soon. You’re looking atrocious!
