Eugène Delacroix, born April 26, 1798, is considered one of the greatest French Romantic painters, or so say a bunch of art historians who study this kind of thing. Who am I (a person who has trouble drawing and recognizing the evocative power of stick figures) to question them? He–we’re back to Delacroix now–was influential in developing Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. Because of his artistic vision and talent, other artists were freer to explore different ways of expressing their visions. Out of those explorations came masterpieces. Delacroix opened the door. That’s about my level of art knowledge. I was stepping out on a pretty flimsy limb here. I know what I love when I see a piece of art and for the life of me I don’t get modern art. 😐

Of course, crazy goes hand and hand with art, too. Look at Dali – Picasso – Van Gogh.

Love them! For some reason Monet always reminds me of my fav Jack Handey quote: “When this girl at the museum asked me who I liked better, Monet or Manet, I said, ‘I like mayonnaise.’ She just stared at me, so I said it again, louder. Then she left. I guess she went to try to find some mayonnaise for me.”
