There were three things I wanted to do. One was make sure I looked handsome. Done. Two was wear a bright red tie to make sure I knew I am Republican. Done. Three. Hmmm. I know it was a good one...
I don’t want any of you to think that your memory is as scattered as mine. I’m simply doing my due diligence in reminding you of a once-in-a-year-time opportunity to get in on possibly winning a writing contest to boost your confidence and resume.
I’m referring to the Dark Globe Create A World Writing Contest. You can find out all the details by clicking HERE.
If this sounds vaguely familiar, I posted a laugh-till-you pee-your-pants post on it (well, that’s my unbiased assessment of the post). If you’ve already forgotten about it or somehow missed it, click HERE. You won’t get a lot of intel on the contest, but you might get a hearty laugh and you probably need to do some laundry anyway. Just giving you fair warning…

Stop with the zany posts, Lorna. My hands are raw from all this laundry detergent. Wasn't lye banned at least a few years ago? And you should see the condition of my computer keyboard and screen...I'll be scrubbing for days.
April 1 is when you can start submitting your 1,200-word opus. April 14 is when the opus-submitting has to end. For the rest of the details, you’ll have to click where I told you to click. It’s the least you can do, since I provided you with the links.

Glad you enjoyed the reminder post. Hope you think about submitting a piece of writing…

Kind of pathetic, eh? 😉

Smart and blonde…I’m such an enigma!
I understand. I’m not competitive myself. But, having just said that, I submitted to pieces to the Writer’s Digest Annual Competition and am tepidly working on my book (and there’s so little competition out there in the memoir market).
I’m judging because DarkJade asked me and I have a hard time saying no. Now the truth is out. Do with it what you will (as long as no sabers or pistols are involved)! 😉

Love the skeleton. Particularly as I have just had to bury a mouse and am now the proud owner of a brand new one. Probably the most touched (item) in my daily life. Had to get that one in, Lorna, since I am currently hounded by the paranoid moral police. Tenderly clicking a mouse and at an alarming rate? What’s the world coming to? Going to the dogs? Get a cat instead.
Thanks for the reminder. Trouble is you have exposed one of my more worrying traits. One, which on the whole, I try to ignore: I am so not competitive an American psychologist might fashion it into a new-fangled condition to be treated at great cost and to little effect. I don’t know what it is with me: Unless you challenge me to a race (or a duel, of course) I will not pick up the gauntlet. In truth, Lorna: I am a coward. Would I want to be “judged” by you? NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I want to hold my head high not go home with my tail between my legs.
Mind you, come to think of it: You are a fine one yourself. Hiding behind your honourable position you escape judgment of your own output. Nice one.

Based on that last picture it appears someone has, indeed, invented a better mousetrap.

Some time ago, for an English composition, I wrote an article entitled “Uncle Ron” about my brother. I thought about sending it in… who knows…

Based on semester evaluations and the number of students who still keep in contact and remember as their “favorite” prof, I think I was successful at making sociology fun. And that’s no easy task!
Mar 24, 2012 @ 10:00:32
hee hee wait…they did ban lye? I agree with Phil about having you as a college prof. Would you consider teaching an on-line class just so I can write papers for you?
Mar 24, 2012 @ 09:56:44
Just trying to get the word out in different ways… 🙂
Mar 24, 2012 @ 08:45:07
I think I would rather have enjoyed having you as a college professor. I like the way you gently remind folks about upcoming assignments. You’ve got style and a lot of humor Lorna. I bet you were a fun prof!
