Welcome to my weekly adventure to “Occupy the Blog-o-Sphere” each Thursday. I offer this hopefully uplifting picture and quote to brighten your day and bring something buoyant into your life. As you move through your day with a renewed outlook, may you pass it along.

This picture was taken right after the Dalai Lama was asked what he recommended we do to encourage world peace. I don't know about you, but I think he's on to something...
“Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.”
Bill Cosby
I am grateful for so many things in life that I can’t possibly list them. One quality that stands out for me, though, is humor. I am eternally grateful for a sense of humor wherever I find it. I wouldn’t be here without humor. Of that, I’m sure.

My pleasure to do it. 🙂

I smile every time I see it.
Mar 23, 2012 @ 11:03:36
I need to get me one of those…:)

Yes, humor is medicine. Often hard to swallow for some. I keep a tickle box in my back pocket and turn it on at will. 🙂

I love that deep-gut laughing experience and that photo of the Dalhi Lama is just wonderful.
Mar 22, 2012 @ 15:12:04
You did it! Many thanks, Lorna.
I suspect we set examples so I appreciate the respect given!
Mar 22, 2012 @ 14:43:50
I’ll go even farther out on that limb: shared laughter while having great sex is THE BEST! 🙂
Mar 22, 2012 @ 14:42:43
I’ll try to fix the placard so it takes the reader to your site. I hope I figure out how to do it… 😐

Lorna, After a week of great laughter. it’s neat to see its your theme today.
As you know, I’m more than happy to have you use the Occupy Blogosphere placard. Did you realize that the link does not take the reader to my site? It’s not a great piece of art (:D), but it is the “identity” of Occupy Blogosphere.
Thanks, Lorna.

I’m going out on a limb here when I say that shared laughter is better than sex. Not that sex isn’t great but… Yikes. I’m just going to post this and leave it at that.

I often need a bit of distance to find the humor in my situations, so don’t despair. Give it time.
Another trick I use is to imagine what is happening to me as if it was happening to someone else. Watching the drama from a distance gives me a perspective in which I can often find the humor. It doesn’t always work, but sometimes it does. We humans often take ourselves too seriously. In the really grand scheme of things, what makes our blood boil (or chill) is often minor compared to what others face. I try to remember that when I’m feeling particularly put upon.
Here’s hoping you can get some distance and not feel so soiled by the feet stomping on you. You’re too buoyant a soul to let the bottom-feeders have at you… 🙂
Mar 22, 2012 @ 09:55:04
Right on. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 😀
Mar 22, 2012 @ 09:51:09
Yes, we need a lot more of it–pure, from the heart and gut laughter. 🙂
Mar 22, 2012 @ 09:50:24
Amen to that, Sistah!

If only we could all have at least one person in our lives that makes us laugh. Imagine how much healthier we would be and how much better our worlds would seem (even if the circumstances didn’t change).

Laughter has a way of both cleansing and replenishing the soul. My grandfather was an immensely happy fellow. It really didn’t matter how sour your mood was before, just being with him for a few minutes would lift that mood and you just couldn’t help feeling better. No wonder everyone wanted to be around him so much. I miss that man – immensely.
Thank you for reminding us all that we really do need to laugh and to delight at the humor that is our life.

The photo of the Dali Lami was enough to put a smile on my face. I have always been a person who smiles all the time. I suppose I felt positive feedback from that even as a child. To this day, if I smile at someone, I find them smiling back. Humor works the same way. Let’s all laugh today – just because.

My dear Lorna, your lightening up the blog-o-sphere couldn’t have come at a better moment. And no one weaves together humour and life’s vagaries better than you do. How many times have I asked myself how it’s possible to laugh so much when someone (that’s you) relates the darker sides of her life? It’s a gift.
I myself am, this minute and in the wake of ‘blog-o-sphere’, floored. I feel soiled. You know how they say that being polite cushions the blows of human relations? Well, there are times when even humour can’t cushion anything.
